Teacher Dress Code

Dress to Impress, Teacher’s Told

This article was in the Herald recently.  I think it is an interesting article from many points of view:

  • that the School Trustees Association sees fit that it can comment on matters of management and not just governance which is their role.
  • that the STA are interested in the surface features of the classroom – which is not any use as an indicator of the learning going on (see Graham’s Nuthall’s work on this fi you are interested to know more).
  • is professionalism just about how you dress? and do the same standards apply elsewhere?
  • why aren’t the STA advocating a dress code for it’s members?
